The Crested Pachycereus marginatus is a beautiful mutation of the Pachycereus marginatus, commonly called the Mexican Fencepost Cactus. The crested formation occurs at random and when a mutation occurs in cell division. Often resulting in crested, fan-like shapes that are coveted in the arid plant community.

Please note: Every plant will vary in size, color and shape from the one pictured. Planter is not included. Plant ships bare root.

Sun: Direct sun. The Pachycereus marginatus requires at least 3-4 hours of direct sun to remain healthy and grow evenly indoors. Be careful of very hot windowsills during summer months as the magnification from the glass can burn the plant surface. Because this specie has little to no spines, it is more susceptible to sunburn

Water: Allow the soil to dry completely between watering and water thoroughly in the grow season.

Tula's Tip: If new growth appears and it is not crested, remove the pups to grow elsewhere so the crested formation is left uninterrupted. Fertilize: Feed with a cactus fertilizer once per month, spring through fall.

Size: Between 4-5" tall and 3-4" at the widest point of the cactus. Every plant will vary in size, color and shape. Delivered bare root.

Origin: The Pachycereus marginatus is native to Central Mexico where is can grow up to 20 feet tall as a columnar cactus. The crested variety is a mutation that grows very slowly and will not grow to such impressive heights in the natural world.
